German Course in Bremen for Students and Academics

Discover our Intensive Course for German as a Foreign Language! Our course is ideal for those who are fast learners and aim for rapid integration into the social life of Germany. With just 430 teaching units (UE), you will gain solid German language skills, enabling you to independently manage your everyday life in Germany. The Intensive Course consists of 400 UE of language instruction, taking you to the B1 language level, and 30 UE of an orientation course, where you will learn about the most important aspects of politics, history, culture, and the legal system of Germany. Thus, in our Intensive Courses, you will not only learn German but also acquire valuable knowledge about the political system and history of Germany.

The German Course in Bremen - How to Register

We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to attend a German Language Course/Intensive Course at BSB Erwachsenenbildung. In many cases, the course fees are covered by the BAMF, allowing you to attend the course free of charge. We take care of the necessary applications to ensure a cost coverage. To register with us, please follow the steps below:

Application Process:

After registering with us, the necessary application forms will be sent to the BAMF. The BAMF will review these applications for approval or rejection for integration courses, depending on the type of your residence permit. If your application is fully approved by the BAMF, they will cover the entire course costs. In case of rejection by the BAMF, you are typically responsible for the course fee (€458.00 per 100 teaching units).

  • Funding for participants in our intensive courses is provided by the BAMF or other government funding.

Registration:

  • For a simplified and quick registration, please fill out the contact form below completely and upload scans/photos of your residence permit (both pages) and your current matriculation certificate or the degree certificate of your university.
  • Please make sure that both documents are legible.
  • By uploading your documents beforehand, we can check your data and enter it into our system.
  • This will save you about 20 minutes when registering on site.

Why do we need your documents?

In order to check whether the costs are covered, we need to send the relevant authority a valid copy of your ID and a valid copy of your current enrolment certificate or graduation certificate from your university.

Your data will be treated confidentially and will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary for the purpose of the registration process with the authorities cooperating with us.

Participation for people outside the target group:

Would you like to take part in an intensive German course but are not part of the target group of students/academics?

It is still possible to participate in the intensive course as a self-payer.

In this case, you will have to pay the full course costs of 458.00€ per 100 teaching units yourself.

How often does a course start?

Courses start approximately once a month.

Where do the courses take place?

All of our courses take place at our locations Herdentorswallstr. 93, 28195 Bremen or at Findorffstr. 14, 28215 Bremen.

How many hours does a course run per week?

As a rule, an intensive course runs 15 hours per week (teaching units (UE), divided over three weekdays, 5 UE per course day).

How many modules/levels are there?

The whole course covers levels A1, A2 and B1, divided into 4 modules.
Module 1: A1
Module 2: A2
Module 3: B1.1
Module 4: B1.2
The modules do not always correspond exactly to the different levels, there are variations depending on the course.

In which module do I start?

To find out which entry level is right for you, there is a compulsory placement test. If the result is a higher entry level, you will enter a running course from the appropriate module. All courses start with module 1 (A1).

Which levels are reached?

The target level to be reached is B1. This is the only level that is officially tested at the end of the course. There are no exams for levels A1 and A2.

In which format does the B1 exam take place?

The examination is a German test for immigrants, which we conduct as a licensee on behalf of TELC Language Tests. A telc certificate is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. A telc certificate is considered a meaningful proof of qualification.

What is the test “Leben in Deutschland”?

The test "Leben in Deutschland" takes place subsequent to the module "Orientation Course". It consists of a test questionnaire with a total of 33 questions on politics and society in Germany.

How much do the teaching materials cost?

There are a total of three course books and three workbooks for the whole course from A1 to B1. The cost of all books is approximately 60,00€ to 80,00€. These costs must be covered by the student.

How does the registration process work?

For a time-saving on-site registration, first upload a scan or photo of your valid residence permit and your valid enrolment certificate, respectively your degree certificate from university or college on our website. Furthermore, fill out the registration form completely. The next step is to register at our school on site. Come in person to the Herdentorswallstraße 93, 28195 Bremen and report to the reception office. You can find the opening hours on our website.

In a personal consultation, we will clarify everything else, check the possibility of funding and initiate the application process for your free German course at the BSB Erwachsenenbildung GmbH.

How soon can I join a course?

Usually, about three to four weeks elapse between the application to the BAMF and course participation.
